Susan 13th February 2020

I was sad to hear of his passing . I'm a Staff Nurse at City Hospital and having been there since 1988 we came into contact on occasion through work and he was always so lovely and had such time for people .Then in 2001 I joined a trip to "walk the Wall" in China for Acorns Children's Hospice . I thought I wouldn't know anyone but as I got on the coach in Birmingham to go to Heathrow there was a cheery wave and someone shouted "hello Sue" from the back of the coach - sure enough it was David! And what a wonderful trip it turned out to be for us all ! I believe his family had paid the initial cost of the trip as a birthday present and David then went on to raise over 3000 pounds for the Hospice . And really ,I think we all had a blast on that trip - David was an easy companion and I think we shared more than a few laughs along the way ...then at the end when we had a Gala night where everyone joined in and did a song or a sketch David did his rendition of Stanley Holloway's " Albert and the Lion " delivering the punchline with gusto ! He was a lovely man and i'm so sorry for your loss. Sue Butler ( Staff Nurse at City )
